Lam hails Bristol for ‘gutsing it out’ in Rotherham blizzard

Pat Lam hailed his side for ‘gutsing it out’ after overcoming the elements and a plucky Rotherham Titans side to record a 17th league victory of the season on Saturday.

Fourteen points from the reliable boot of Ian Madigan and tries from Ryan Edwards and Luke Morahan sealed a 24-3 win at a snow-clad Clifton Lane – and the head coach praised the character of his players in difficult circumstances.

“I’m very proud of the guys because rugby shouldn’t be played in those sort of conditions, and they gutsed it out,” he said.

“We were only 6-0 up at half-time – and there were times there where you couldn’t even see the other side of the field - but they grafted it out and came back to get a very good win. “Character wise, that’s probably one of our best wins of the season.

“We had a bit of everything with the weather, but the boys gutsed it out and did a tremendous job.”

Bristol return to a snow-covered field for the second half (JMP UK).
