Lam relishing final day showdown at The Stoop

Pat Lam says the Bears are under no illusions about the challenge they face on Sunday, as they head to The Stoop to take on London Irish with a place in the Gallagher Premiership play-offs up for grabs.

The Bears sit fifth in the table after 21 games, level on points with fourth place Sale Sharks and knowing a victory could see them earn a top-four finish on the final day of the 2019/20 season.

Tough test

And the Director of Rugby says a tough challenge awaits his side at The Stoop.

“They (London Irish) are coming off a great win over Exeter away – that’s not an easy win whatever team Exeter put out, so we are under no illusions whatsoever about how tough this will be.

“We’ve had to prepare accordingly, so it’s all about getting this right and we’re looking forward to it.

More to come

“There’s been a lot of growth and development over the season and over the last three years, which has been pleasing but, it’s not like it’s an end point, there’s so much more to come from us as a team, as a group, as a club.

“We continue to grow and I think to be in this sort of situation is what we want every year – contesting for silverware, every year being in the mix, and it’s great to go into Sunday knowing that a lot is riding on the game.”
