Lam targets improvements ahead of semi final

Pat Lam says Bristol Bears will relish another big week of preparation after booking their place in the last four of the European Challenge Cup with a seven-try demolition of Dragons at Ashton Gate on Friday night.

Ben Earl (2), Nathan Hughes, Semi Radradra, Chris Vui, Max Malins and Dan Thomas all touched down for a rampant Bears side, who had fallen 10-0 behind in the opening quarter.

And although satisfied with the result, Lam says his side must improve ahead of a home semi-final clash with Edinburgh or Bordeaux.

Targeting a final

“Getting the result in finals rugby is the most important thing, like I said before the game, you just need one more point than they get,” he said.

“Fair play to the Dragons and my mate Dean [Ryan], they tried things and they caused us a few issues in the beginning, and we were just messy and didn’t have control of the game.

“Once we tidied up and didn’t try and force things and just played as a team, we scored some good tries.”

"It is great to have a week’s recovery and we will see who we are playing tomorrow, Edinburgh or Bordeaux, both are tough teams, and then we will get back in next week and it is great to have some good preparation for it.

"We will try our best to get Bristol Bears into a final."
