‘Let’s fight fire with fire’ - Lindsay

Tom Lindsay has urged his Bears Women side to ‘fight fire with fire’ when they take on Gloucester-Hartpury at the Alpas Arena on Saturday.

The Bears head into the clash off the back of a much-needed 22-12 victory over Sale Sharks – and Lindsay has challenged his side to deliver a repeat performance in this weekend’s south west derby.

'Gloucester bring the physicality'

“Last week’s result made a huge difference to the girls coming into this week,” he said.

“I thought Sale came at us hammer and tong, but we handled the pressure, played the game in the right areas, put the pressure back on them and took the points where we could, so we were happy to come away with that win.

“The girls have worked hard over the last couple of weeks, and we’ll be firing on all cylinders come the weekend. It’s a south west derby, so there will be emotion around that, but the challenge for us is: can we have that same desire, intent and physicality all of the way up the pitch?

“Gloucester always bring the physicality – they’ve got a strong set-piece, that’s their heart, very similar to Saracens and Harlequins. So, we’ve got to fight fire with fire up front – that forward encounter is going to be decisive.”
