Lindsay delighted for playing group

Tom Lindsay hailed the attitude and determination of his Bristol Bears Women squad as the fought their way to a 22-12 victory over the Sharks on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears crossed the whitewash on three occasions to beat the Sharks as Lucy Burgess, Kayleigh Powell and Simi Pam all dived over the chalk.

“From minute one to minute seventy it was a real squad effort and I am so happy to see the girls come off the pitch with smiles on their faces,” said Lindsay.

“It was a tough encounter and fair play to Sale, they showed up and gave us a real good test but the main thing from today was coming away with a win.

“There were some huge defensive efforts but that is probably because we were putting ourselves in those situations and hopefully we can transition a lot more of our energy into our attack moving forward.

“There are plenty of girls who put their hand up today and I am so pleased for the squad and staff.

“Our whole goal for the back end of the season is to try and creep back up the table and this was the first step today. We’ve taken a lot of learnings from the last two defeats and put them into practice today.

“We now have a short break to recharge and refocus and then we’ll come back strong."
