Lindsay seeks much improved performance

Tom Lindsay has challenged his Bristol Bears Women squad to significantly raise the bar as they prepare for the trip to the capital to face Saracens Women.

Bears Women travel to the home of the Champions on Saturday afternoon looking to bounce back from a heavy West Country derby defeat against Gloucester-Hartpury.

Lindsay has urged the group to ‘leave the Bears shirt in a better place’ when they take on Saracens at the StoneX Stadium.

He said: “This weekend in a huge opportunity for the squad and those who are selected.”

“We’re going to the home of the Champions and it’s a chance for the 23 that wear the shirts on Saturday to give everything they have got and play the rugby we know we’re capable of.

“When you wear the Bears shirt it is about making sure that when take it off, you leave it in a better place. So, when the next person wears it or if you put it back on, you don’t let the bar go below where it was left, and you try to keep raising it higher and higher.

“That goes for the coaches as well, because this is going to be a collective effort from everyone looking at where we can improve and how we can get to where we want to be.

“From our previous encounter with Saracens, if we take away the first ten minutes, we were right in the fight and we could have taken something from that game. We need to focus on the positives from that.

“We need to tune-up our contact area and make the adjustments needed, which should give our backline some exciting ball to work with.”
