Lloyd scores in Wales defeat, Jones features for Scots

Ioan Lloyd’s first-half try wasn’t enough to prevent Wales U18 from slipping to a 38-20 defeat to Sean Marsden’s England U18 in the opening game of the 2019 U18 Six Nations Festival at Gillman’s Ground, Hartpury.

The Academy youngster, who recently signed a four-year contract at the club, chimed in and outstripped the cover defence to score a well taken try.

But England outscored the Welsh by five tries to three to record a comfortable win.

Tom Jones was among the replacement as Scotland U18 were defeated by an injury time try against Italy, going down 18-19.

Scotland U18 Head Coach, Ross Miller, said: "The players are disappointed not to get the result, but it was a good learning experience for them.

"I thought there were some real positives in the way we attacked and how we kept possession, however, it is a credit to the Italian side as they took their opportunities in the second-half."
