Twelve Bears players were in dual-registration action over the weekend, with away victories for Hartpury and Clifton.
GKIPA Championship
Ampthill 12-20 Hartpury
Jac Lloyd, Martin Mulhall, Oscar Lennon and George Kloska helped Hartpury to a hard-fought away victory over Ampthill on Saturday.
A Tommy Matthews penalty and a try from wing Denty fired Hartpury into a 0-10 lead before a converted maul try made it 5-17.
Matthews’ late penalty sealed the deal for Pury and a 20-12 win.
National League Two West
Redruth 18-44 Clifton
Macenzzie Duncan scored for Clifton as they pulled off a resounding away win at Redruth on Saturday.
Playing down the slope towards the famed Hell Fire Corner end, it was the Reds who scored first when Fraser Honey kicked a penalty and wing Dean Bonds crossed, but Brad Talbot powered over for Clifton.
A further Honey penalty came before a strong surge around the fringes resulting in Duncan’s try. A converted Will Trewin try gave the Cornishmen the interval lead.
An expected tight second half though did not happen as it belonged to Clifton who scored immediately from the restart when a cross-field move and break presented wing Alex Howman with a try.
Redruth’s discipline was weakening as Talbot added his second and then Zak Hamid quickly sliced through to gain the bonus point try.
Elsewhere, in National League Two West, Ed Harvey, Tomas Gwilliam and Jimmy Halliwell helped Old Reds to a 30-25 victory over Hornets, while Dings Crusaders, featuring Harry Ascherl, fell to a 20-31 defeat at home to Hinckley.
In regional One South West, Pete Carter's Chew Valley suffered a narrow 25-29 home defeat at the hands of Exmouth.
