Loan watch: Hartpury beaten in Cup, Cinderford march on

Newcastle Falcons 50-10 Hartpury RFC – Championship Cup

Four Bristol Bears players were in action at Kingston Park, as a spirited Hartpury side were beaten by table-topping Newcastle in the Championship Cup.

Joe Batley, Sam Graham, Tiff Eden and Charlie Powell were all involved, in a game in which the score line didn’t reflect the visitors’ performance.

It wasn’t until the final quarter that the hosts finally pulled away, and a late flurry of tries gave a score-line that was harsh on Hartpury.

Cinderford 24-18 Old Elthamians – National One

Ollie Dawe’s Cinderford edged out Old Elthamians in a tense affair that remained in the balance right up until the final whistle.

The visitors opened the scoring after seven minutes before Cinderford replied through hooker Joe Mullis.

OE’s responded with their second try to re-take the lead, but a yellow card saw Cinderford take full advantage with two well-taken tries before the interval.

OE’s reduced the deficit with two penalties, but Cinderford defended resolutely and were not to be denied a first-ever victory over their opponents.
