Luatua wary of 'dangerous' Irish

Steven Luatua says the Bears will need to raise their game against an ‘experienced’ and ‘dangerous’ London Irish side.

The Bears welcome the Exiles to Ashton Gate for the final game of the regular Gallagher Premiership season, and the skipper believes they will learn from the ‘high-pressure situations’ of the past few weeks.

“The last game wasn’t pretty and not where we want to be as a team, but we did enough to get the win.

“We had each other’s backs and went out there and did the job. For us to secure the home semi definitely meant a lot to the team and it’s something that we’ve been gearing towards and aiming for. Winning in that fashion – obviously not the prettiest of games – but it does help with growing a bit of steel, a bit of toughness, and hopefully if we get into the situation again, we can do the same thing. But hopefully we can play a prettier brand of rugby.

“Irish are a very experienced team - they’ve got a lot of guys with a lot of caps sprinkled throughout the forward pack and the back line, so as a last hurrah from them, it’ll be a tough outing for us.

“We want to play a pretty brand of rugby, but we’re under no illusions either that we might need to grind it out. It’ll be a tough encounter and it should be fun.”
