Lucas Slowik has linked up with the Western Province Academy in Cape Town ahead of the Under-19 Currie Cup competition.
The centre - in his first year with the Bristol Rugby Academy - arrived in South Africa on Monday.
Slowik will train with the Western Province Academy with the potential of featuring in the U19 competition.
"Lucas has been itching to get some games under his belt and this is a fantastic opportunity for any young player," Academy Manager Mike Hall told bristolrugby.co.uk.
"To sample a different culture in South Africa and to train with a new set of players at Western Province will be a great experience for Lucas.
"It is important we offer our young players life experiences to develop a well-rounded character away from rugby."
