Luke Baldwin will depart Bristol Rugby at the end of the 2014/15 campaign.
The scrum half – who joined in December 2013 – is set to move to a rival Championship club after agreeing terms for next season.
Baldwin has made nine appearances during the season, scoring one try.
Director of Rugby Andy Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk: “We offered Luke a contract here and wanted him to stay.
“We felt he had a part to play for the remainder of the season, but unfortunately that will no longer be the case.
“Like Andy Short, we have no choice but to follow similar action with Luke. He won’t play any further part in our campaign.
“Our focus is promotion and any player who is fortunate enough to represent this Club will be totally committed to that.
“With the play-offs on the horizon, we need everybody to pull together – players, staff and supporters – it will be a whole club effort to get Bristol to the Premiership.”
