Max Malins says top-four celebrations will be short-lived as the Bears now turn their attention to next weekend’s Gallagher Premiership semi-final.
Malins steered the ship with three conversions and a penalty as Bristol cruised to a bonus-point victory over London Irish at The Stoop – and the versatile playmaker says the squad is focused on reaching a second final of the season.
“We talked inside about how it has been a three-year project to get into these sorts of games and to book ourselves a Premiership semi-final is amazing and I’m so excited for this group,” he said.
“We got to three tries and down to the last five minutes, but it was about then taking control of the game – we lost a bit of control early in that second half. So, we had to take control of the game and play in the right areas, and that led to our next two tries.
“We can celebrate and be happy today, but we’ve now got a semi-final to look forward to and we’ve just said in the changing room, there’s no point getting to the semi-final if you don’t get to the final. Our aim is to now push forward and get into two finals.”
