Mark Sorenson To Retire At End Of Season

Mark Sorenson has announced his retirement from professional rugby at the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

The New-Zealander joined Bristol in 2013, making 82 appearances in the blue and white hoops so far.

Sorenson also represented Bay of Plenty, Newcastle Falcons and Northampton Saints in an impressive career at the top level of the domestic game.

“It feels like the right time for me to take on a new chapter and retire from the professional game,” the 37 year-old told bristolrugby.co.uk.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to play for some great clubs alongside some fantastic people. The game has given me incredible opportunities and I have enjoyed every minute of it.

“There have been plenty of highs and lows at Bristol Rugby, but the spirit and passion at this Club has remained true throughout the last four years.

“My family and I love the city and feel like adopted Bristolians now. We are settled here and will be staying after I retire. I will continue to support the Club at Ashton Gate, only with a beer and a pasty alongside the supporters.

“I’m excited about a new opportunity and will be pursuing a career in medical sales. It’s a different challenge, but one that I am relishing.”
