Match Preview: Bristol Bears Women vs Exeter Chiefs Women

Bears Women are set to take on their West Country rivals in front of a record crowd at Shaftesbury Park as Allianz Premier 15s rugby returns.

Dave Ward will take charge of his first competitive game as Head Coach of the Bears as Susie Appleby’s Chiefs make the journey up the M5 to Frenchay, with both sides looking start their season on the front foot.

Last season saw the two sides produce two humdingers with the Bears coming out on top 22-24 at Sandy Park in the first outing of the 20/21 campaign, followed by Exeter running out 29-31 victors  in the New Year at Shaftesbury Park.

There is an abundance of talent in the Bears Women squad that will take to the field tomorrow afternoon with a number of players set to make their debuts for the club.

Co-captain Abbie Ward packs down at lock whilst fellow summer signing Hannah West will start at hooker.

Grace Crompton and Jenny Heskth make their full debuts for the Bears as they line-up on either wing.

Wales international Megan Webb will also make her Bears bow if introduced from the replacements.


TICKETS & STREAMING

Hundreds of spectators are set to descend on Shaftesbury Park this weekend to watch the West Country derby.

There is still time for supporters to take advantage of the advance ticket prices available online through the club’s official ticketing site.

Bristol Bears Director of Rugby Pat Lam will also be in attendance tomorrow and will address attending supporters at 11:30am during the warm-up.

Supporter Information

The fixture will still be operating under COVID-19 guidelines and have a red zone in operation. This will be clearly sign-posted on the day with volunteers on hand to answer any questions.

Supporters will be able to make use of one side of the stand that is located nearest to the car park after you have been admitted through the ticket office as well as the behind the barrier that perimeters the whole of the pitch. 

Fans that have pre-purchased their tickets online will need to show this at the ticket office on their phone or on paper if printed before being granted access.  

The clubhouse and bar will be open to supporters for the duration of the game. This can be accessed via the stairs through the main entrance or via the top of the grandstand which will be open to supporters.
