Muldowney to make a splash for charity

Aly Muldowney will make a splash in the name of charity, as the Bristol Bears lock prepares to be rescued from Portishead Marina by a giant 14-stone Newfoundland dog.

After seeing the charity’s work first-hand, Muldowney will raise funds for the Bristol Animal Rescue Centre - Bristol's oldest and largest animal centre, supporting animals in need and local pet owners.

“After seeing their work first-hand on a recent visit with some of the other Bears, I decided to raise funds by taking part in this brilliant 'doggy water rescue', where a gentle giant 14 stone Newfoundland dog will 'rescue' me from Portishead Marina, using their amazing strength to tow me back to shore,” said Muldowney.

“Every penny donated will help make an impact - £6 for example, could pay for an animal to be microchipped, and £25 could fund a day's care for an animal in their care - giving them a full tummy, a warm clean bed and routine vet care.

“Join me in brightening a local animal's life and helping them on their journey to finding their forever family here in Bristol.”

The ‘Newfoundland Splash’ takes place on Saturday, June 22nd and you can sponsor Aly by visiting his JustGiving page here.
