Number Crunch: Oh when the Saints

All of the key player, team and form statistics ahead of the Gallagher Premiership clash with Northampton Saints at Franklin's Gardens.

    • Northampton Saints have won their last two Gallagher Premiership Rugby matches, at home to Wasps and away at London Irish, and have not won three in succession since the start of this campaign. The Saints’ 27-22 victory over Wasps in Round 20 ended an unwanted three game losing run at cinch Stadium.
    • Bristol Bears only win in their last six Gallagher Premiership Rugby fixtures was 31-19 over Wasps at Ashton Gate on 25 February. The Bears only away win in Gallagher Premiership Rugby this season was 45-33 at London Irish on 30 October.
    • Northampton beat Bristol 36-20 at Ashton Gate in Round 9 and have not achieved a Premiership Rugby season’s double over the Bears since 2016/17. Bristol have won on their last three visits to Northampton.
    • Northampton Saints won their last Premiership match against Bristol Bears (36-20 in round nine) after losing five in a row to them previously; their last three matchups at Franklin’s Gardens have all seen Bristol Bears emerge victorious on the day.
    • After winning their first three home matches of the season, Northampton Saints have gone on to win just two of their six since; however, their last two defeats at Franklin’s Gardens have both come by margins of three points or fewer.
    • Northampton Saints have won their last two Premiership matches after losing four in a row previously; they have also claimed a four-try bonus point in each of their last seven victories; however, they have not recovered from a losing position at half-time to claim victory at home since a 35-16 win against Worcester Warriors in October 2019.
    • Bristol Bears have lost five of their last six games in the Premiership (W1); however, their last four defeats have all come by margins of nine points or fewer; they also managed to score 23 points or more in four of those five losses.

  • No side has conceded more penalties than Northampton Saints in this season’s Premiership (251); however, only Worcester Warriors (180) have had fewer penalty decisions in their favour than Bristol Bears (198) this term.
  • Bristol Bears are the only side to have averaged over seven meters ran per carry in this season’s Premiership (7.1 meters/carry); additionally, they have also completed more dominant tackles (146), offloads (211) and 50/22 kicks (8) than any other team this term.
  • No player has claimed more line-out takes in this season’s Premiership than Northampton Saints’ David Ribbans (110); however, he also leads the charts in terms of penalties conceded so far this term (29).
  • No player garnered more carry meters (178) or beat more defenders (9) in last weekend’s round of Premiership fixtures than Northampton Saints winger Tom Collins; his teammates George Furbank (148) and Api Ratuniyarawa (105) also ranked third and fourth respectively for carry meters last time out.
  • Bristol Bears centre Antoine Frish provided two try assists for his teammates against Saracens in the last round of Premiership fixtures, after only registering one assist in his previous eight appearances so far this season.
