OBITUARY: Mike Lewis

Bristol Bears are sorry to report the recent death, following a long illness, of Mike Lewis.

Longstanding supporters will remember Mike as Bristol’s physio (“trainer” was a more common term in those days) during the 1980s.

Mike’s input was greatly valued by the players at a time when Bristol were indisputably one of the top sides in England.

He was with the team when Bristol won the John Player Cup in 1983 and he appeared in the team photo which was taken at Twickenham that day.

Mike played junior rugby at Dings Crusaders, and he also acted as physio for Gloucestershire.

His funeral will take place at Westerleigh Crematorium on Thursday October 25th at 12:30, after which friends and family will gather to remember Mike at Lockleaze Sports Centre.

All at Bristol Bears send their sincere sympathy to Mike’s wife, Gail, and his children Ian and Claire.
