Obituary: Reverend Paul Hardy

It is with a bittersweet feel that Bristol Bears Community Foundation share the passing of Reverend Paul Hardy.

A life-long Exeter Chiefs fan – Paul’s affinity to the Bristol team stemmed from a unique 1:1 intervention as part of our Golden Memories programme. Initially approached by the Alzheimer’s Society South Gloucestershire in April 2017, Foundation Support Coach Jeff Tavender quickly established a connection, relationship and ultimately friendship with Paul, leading to over 125 'appearances' together.

Paul went on to share some truly special occasions, including home visits from former Exeter and Bristol winger and then Foundation CEO Ben Breeze, meeting former back-rower and current Bears Team Manager Nick Fenton-Wells, as well as the 'big men' themselves, Pat Lam and Rob Baxter at Ashton Gate as the two teams faced off in the Gallagher Premiership.

With a lifetime of memories shared, and the rich blessing of his friendship, Bristol Bears Community Foundation offer their deepest condolences to his family at this time, and the utmost gratitude for the life of Reverend Paul Hardy always.
