Oliver challenges her side to find their clinical edge

Kim Oliver has challenged her players to raise the bar in terms of their execution on the pitch as the Bears look to earn a victory against Waterloo in their first game of 2020 at Shaftesbury Park.

Oliver also believes her side have benefitted from some time away from the rugby pitch as her side look recharged as they return to training after the winter break.

“Christmas is always a good time, you spend time with your family and you get that break, take your mind off rugby and now actually everyone is raring to go and excited for the next few games, said Oliver.

“We need some positivity heading into this week. We had a good training session last night and we’ll hit Thursday hard so we can go into Saturday’s game with Waterloo with some confidence.

“There are no easy games in this league. We’ve got to go out there and put in a good performance, we’ve got to be physical and relentless as well as stick to our systems.

“If we do all that then we can come out on top but if we don’t do that, like we haven’t a couple of games that’s when we let ourselves down a little bit, so this week we’re back in refocused and going into the game with a positive mindset.

“We have an incredible amount of talent from the young girls to the more experienced girls and it’s really important that we get that cohesion when we’re on the pitch.

“We’re creating fantastic opportunities but we’re just not quite finishing them off. If we can get that execution right then we’re as good as anyone, it’s just about executing those opportunities we create.

“We pack in a good crowd here, the support is fantastic and the facility is fantastic. It’s a great home for us here and I think it does give us confidence and an edge.”

Bristol Bears Women take on Firwood Waterloo on Saturday, January 11th (12pm) last Shaftesbury Park and supporters can purchase tickets here.
