Oliver urges her side push on

Kim Oliver has challenged her side bring the same level of intensity and physicality shown in this weekend’s 48-0 victory over Firwood Waterloo into Bristol Bears Women’s upcoming fixture with Wasps Ladies.

Bears Women scored eight unanswered tries which included a hat-trick from Phoebe Murray and a brace from co-captain Clara Nielson in a comprehensive victory at Shaftesbury Park.

“I’m proud of the group because it was a much improved performance, it’s a good start to the year but we definitely left a few tries out there, said Oliver.

“Majority of the time we took our opportunities, we’re still just a little bit inconsistent. When we get our system correct and we go through our processes, that’s when we look really dangerous but we just need to do that more often.

“Our defence is something that we pride ourselves on and overall it has been good this year, bar one or two games, but we really brought it back today and our line speed was superb which resulted in some really dominant hits.

“If you’re constantly being hit back in attack then you’re eventually going to lose the ball, it’s just about having the mindset to keep going.

“We’ve got another big game coming up against Wasps this weekend before a big break and we can go into that game with confidence.

“If we take the aggression from around the contact area and at the break down into the game against Wasps then we can really take it to them.”
