‘Our focus has got to be on us’ - Oliver

Kim Oliver is eager to unleash her Bears side for the first time in eight months on Saturday as they take on the Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park (12pm

“They’ve had a good opening game against Gloucester-Hartpury, but our focus for this week will firmly be on us. We will be going out there with a focus on implementing everything we have put in to place over pre-season.

“As coaches, we believe in the processes and systems we have put in place, and this weekend is an opportunity for the players to go out there and put on a show.

“You can loom at our delayed start in two ways. You could say that we’re unprepared having missed a game, but it has given us a bit more time to go through things with the players. Granted that would be over a call and not in person, but I feel we’re in the best place we could be given the circumstance.

“We’re going to go out there and put our attack shape into play with a strong defensive wall on the other side of the ball, and hopefully put in a performance to come away with the win.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to see the new girls in a game environment, which is obviously very different to training.

“As much as I am excited to see the new players, I’m just looking forward to seeing the girls back out on the pitch with a smile on their faces, and playing the rugby we know we can.”
