Radradra 'pumped' for Premiership introduction

Semi Radradra’s assessment that ‘he still has room for improvement’ will strike fear into the hearts of even the most hardened of Gallagher Premiership defenders.

But the Fijian sensation insists his move to Ashton Gate to link up with Pat Lam’s Bears is the biggest of his career so far, as he prepares to make his mark in English rugby’s top-flight when the season resumes on August 15th.

‘A massive challenge’

“It’s going to be a massive challenge for me - not just the first couple of months, but the whole first year will be a challenge,” said Radradra.

“I’ve been watching some Premiership matches and it seems like it’s going to be a big test for me to dominate. I’ll have to bring my A game and see what happens.

“People say that I’m the best, but I don’t rate myself as the best. I’m still learning and I’m still trying to prove myself. I have a lot of features of my game to improve, and that’s why I’m looking forward to restarting the season with Bristol.

“The training facility we have here is the best I have ever worked in – it is an amazing place to be every day. Everyone has been very welcoming and I’m really enjoying the city so far.”

The Lam reunion

“I’m excited to be here working with Pat (Lam) and the squad we have here is excellent. We are working very hard and we don’t just want to be successful this season, but also in the long term. I am here to win silverware and I can’t wait to get started.

“I was fortunate enough to play for the Barbarians and I really admired the way Pat put the game and the team together. I thought he’d be a suitable fit for me.”

‘Everyone’s pumped’

Radradra says his transition into his new surroundings has been smooth and that everything is in place for the Bears to be successful.

“The boys, the coaching staff, the facilities… everything is here,” he said.

“We're blessed to have this. It's up to the boys if they want it. Everyone is on the same page: they want to win. I want to be part of that journey.

“This team is ready, man. Everyone here is keen to win the champ. Everyone has that mindset. I'm pumped. Everyone's pumped.”
