Red Roses record fourth straight win over Le Bleus

England Women came out on top 17-15 against France in Le Crunch at Sandy Park on Saturday afternoon.

Sarah Bern started for the Red Roses, whilst Rownita Marston made her debut for the Red Roses when introduced in the second half.

Laure Sansus’ fine solo effort gave France an initial lead in Exeter, before Scarratt slotted two penalties to see the Red Roses go into the break 6-8 down.

As the second half began, England were the more dominant on the two sides as the boot of Scarratt nudged the Red Roses ahead for the first time in the game with successive penalties.

France then snatched the lead back as the game went into the closing stages, Sansus’ sniping run created a two on one and Caroline Boujard crossed for an easy score, with Tremouliere adding the conversion.

A poor clearance kick allowed the Red Roses to secure a dramatic last minute try when the ball was shipped to the right wing and Scarratt fed Lydia Thompson, who accelerated down the touchline to cross in the corner.
