Report: Bears bow out at semi-final stage

A young Bristol Bears side reached the final four of the Premiership Sevens, but went down to Wasps in the semi-finals.

In an action packed quarter-final, skipper Jack Bates, the prolific Toby Venner and Aaron Chapman all dotted down for the Bears in a convincing 21-10 win over Harlequins.

Bristol faced the tournament favourites Wasps in the semi-final and, despite a spirited effort, fell to a 54-12 defeat, despite tries from Cole Swannack and Toby Venner.

Bears enjoyed victories over Northampton Saints and Harlequins twice in the competition, while Venner bagged eight tries in four games.
