Report: Bristol Bears 17-19 Gloucester-Hartpury

Bristol Bears fall just short against West Country rivals Gloucester-Hartpury at Shaftesbury Park in Round 10 of the Allianz Premier 15s.

The Bears Centre of Excellence started the day off on winning ways in the first of three fixtures in Bear Country on Saturday. Tiara Brown, Amber Carter and Pheibee Brady all went over to score, whilst captain Lauren Bailey claimed a double to secure a 27-17 win.

Dave Ward’s side got their fixture underway soon after. The Bears had a strong start, but it was the visitors who scored first. Emma Sing dotted down and converted her own try.

Despite a fantastic restart from Elinor Snowsill, the Cherry & Whites scored a second in the corner to stretch their lead to 0-12 with twenty minutes played.

The Bears had Gloucester-Hartpury pinned in their own half with Sarah Bern on the rampage, before Simi Pam powered over for the Bears first.

Gloucester-Hartpury counter attacked quickly, and Ellie Rugman went over just before the break. The score at half-time Bears 7-19.

The Bears came out firing at the start of the second half, captain Amber Reed punched her way over the line to score.

Soon after the forwards rumbled over and Lark Davies bagged Bears third to bring them to within two.

Despite mounting pressure, the Bears were unable to get back over the whitewash. However, the Bears did deny the Cherry & Whites any points in the second half.

The Bears next fixture is away to Worcester Warriors on Saturday, February 11th at Sixways. Our next home fixture is on Saturday, February 25th.
