Report: Bristol Bears 31-12 Cardiff Blues

Bristol Bears ran in five tries under the Friday night lights to see off Cardiff Rugby in an Anglo-Welsh friendly at Ashton Gate.

Harry Ascherl, Jake Kerr, Will Porter, Joe Jenkins and Harry Thacker all touched down for Pat Lam’s side in a solid performance in BS3.

It didn’t take long for Pat Lam’s side to open the scoring. A break from James Williams down the centre set up a Harry Ascherl try two minutes in.

Cardiff replied through the rolling maul with Liam Belcher rumbling over and the conversion brought the scores level with 15 minutes gone. A Jake Kerr try edged the Bears back ahead soon after.

Will Porter, who had been denied earlier on, sold the dummy to snipe through to score his first try in a Bears shirt – and with half-time quickly approaching, Joe Jenkins rumbled over from a driving lineout.

Cardiff struck first when play resumed with Mason Grady going over from close range, before Thacker did the same at the death to seal a commanding win.
