Report: Bristol Bears 'A' 14-36 Exeter Braves

Bristol Bears ‘A’ went down 14-36 at the hands of a strong Exeter Braves outfit on Saturday afternoon.

The home side scored either side of half time as Max Lahiff rumbled over from close-range, before Tyrese Johnson-Fisher crossed in the second period at Clifton RFC.

The loss is Bristol's third successive defeat in the Southern section of the Premiership Rugby Shield competition.


What happened?

After Mat Protheroe had gone close early on, Josh Caulfield touched down to hand the Braves the early lead. Kyle Cooper added a second from a well-worked move to double Exeter's advantage on the half hour.

Max Lahiff rumbled over before the interval but, despite plenty of possession, Bristol couldn't find a second score and trailed at the interval.

In the second period, Andrew Relton muscled his way across the whitewash to extend the visitor's lead, although Bears found a route back into the game once again when Tyrese Johnson-Fisher finished off a flowing move.

A Harvey Skinner penalty kept the scoreboard ticking over, before tries late on from Stu Townsend and Shea Cornish completed the victory for the Devon outfit.
