Report: Bristol Bears U18 17-21 Exeter Chiefs U18s

Bristol Academy U18s slipped to a narrow defeat in an entertaining clash versus Exeter Chiefs U18s on Saturday.

Mike Hall’s side went down 21-17 at North Bristol RFC, despite a spirited second half fightback.

Without a win in the competition, Bristol went behind when Josh Thorne crossed for the Devon outfit.

But Harry Ascherl responded to draw the sides level, before Troy Sixton dabbed down for Exeter before the interval.

Chiefs pushed further ahead through Jake Bond after the break, but Bristol launched a comeback through quickfire scores from Zach Kavanagh and Charlie Squier.

Hall said: “We scored three good tries and showed plenty of invention in our attack, but we came up just short in the end.

“It’s disappointing to lose, but the effort and commitment of the players was excellent and it’s a positive step in the right direction.”
