Report: Bristol Bears U18s 19-46 London Irish U18s

The Bears suffered a tough loss against a strong London Irish side on Saturday, going down 19-46 at Shaftesbury Park.

Bristol scored three tries, courtesy of Deago Bailey, Tom Wilstead and Ollie Holiday, but were overpowered by clinical Irish during the second half.

The visitors took the lead three minutes into the game, following a strong kick off. After a slow start from the Bears, London Irish doubled their lead not long after. At 0-10 down, the Bears kicked into gear and Deago Bailey crossed the line after a nicely worked line out.

London Irish U18s added three further tries and one conversion before the end of the first half, bringing the half time score to 5-27.

The visitors opened to second half with another try, but the bears quickly responded with two well worked scores from Tom Wilstead and Ollie Holiday.

Unfortunately any hopes of a comeback were short-lived, as London Irish U18s scored two tries before the end of the game, leaving the final score at 19-46.

Academy transition coach Sean Marsden said: "The second half performance was much better. We created some good opportunities, we got some momentum that was needed and we were able to keep the ball better. We scored some tries, but unfortunately we missed out on the bonus point."
