Report: Bristol Bears U18s 24-22 Harlequins U18s

Bristol Bears U18s returned to winning ways with victory over Harlequins U18s at Shaftesbury Park on Saturday evening.

Despite the scores being level on several occasions, the Bears came out on top under the Saturday night lights.

Louie Trevett claimed a double for the Cubs, whilst Sonny Davis and Louis Nancekivell also scored.

It was the visitors who opened the scoring through Sam Kerr. The home side responded soon after when Davis punched over the try line. Neither side converted their tries.

Both sides lost their hookers to the sin bin in quick succession. Quins were first to go down to 14. Bears capitalised on the player advantage, Trevett dotted down close to the posts and Fin Fielder slotted the extras.

Quins returned the compliment when the Cubs went down to 14, Theo Currie with their second.

Ted Phillips made a fantastic break which led to Trevett’s double. The Cubs went in at the break 17-12 ahead.

The visitors scored first in the second half, Will Peart-Smith ran over in the corner.

The space opened up for Nancekivell and the winger switched on the afterburners to stretch the Cubs’ lead. Fielder converted.

Tom Humphreys brought Quins to within two, but a solid final defensive effort from the Cubs handed them the victory.
