Report: Bristol Bears Women 33-10 Wasps Women

Bristol Bears Women ran in five tries as they bounced back from last weekend's defeat with a commanding victory over Wasps Women in the Allianz Cup at Shaftesbury Park.

Having slipped to defeat at the hands of Gloucester-Hartpury in round one of the Allianz Cup, Dave Ward's side stormed back to winning ways to keep their hopes of progression in the competition well and truly alive.

Holly Phillips scored twice for the Bears, while there were also tries for Ella Lovibond, Gabriella Nigrelli and Simi Pam.

What happened?

After a slow start to the action, it was centre Lovibond who break the deadlock on 15 minutes, as the Bears created space in the wide channels.

Phillips struck twice in ten minutes from well worked driving lineouts to fire the hosts into a commanding lead at the break.

Nigrelli powered over for her side's fourth before prop Pam stormed clear to cap an impressive win for the Bears.

Wasps hit back late on with two consolation scores courtesy of Carys Williams and Ellie Boatman, but it was the Bears who took the spoils on another entertaining afternoon at Shaftesbury Park.
