REPORT: Bristol Ladies 5-56 Lichfield Ladies

Bristol Ladies fell to a second successive defeat on Sunday as a dominant Lichfield team scored nine tries to record a 56-5 victory.

Bethan Dainton had touched down to hand Bristol a perfect start, but it was to be the only points of the game for the home side.

Sarah Nicholas grabbed a first half brace, while Harriet Millar Mills and Carys Williams also powered over to put Lichfield in control at the interval.

Lichfield scored six unanswered tries after the break as Bristol fell to their heaviest defeat of the RFU Woman’s Premiership campaign.

The Ladies will look to return to winning ways when they travel to Richmond next weekend.

Forwards Coach Royston Davies said: “It was another tough day in the office. We’d hope to get back on track after the disappointment of last week’s result against Saracens, but today we just couldn’t work our way into the game.

“Lichfield were on point and played really well – unfortunately our accuracy and basic play weren’t good enough. We never built a platform to enable us to build, and whilst we looked dangerous, made some great breaks and worked hard defensively, it wasn’t enough today.

“Saying that – the girls never gave up, that Bristol spirit is still there. We need to tweak a few things here and there, but I’m confident we’ll bounce back.”
