REPORT: Bristol Ladies 78-3 Aylesford Bulls

Bristol Ladies return to winning way with a comprehensive victory over Aylesford Bulls on Sunday.

Inspired by team-mate Izzy Noel-Smith’s match-winning try for England a day earlier, Bristol delivered a fine performance to end a run of three straight defeats.

Playing at Trowbridge RFC due to a water logged pitch at the Portway, the Ladies scored twelve tries to record a 78-3 victory.

Elinor Snowsill, Beth Dainton and Olivia Jones all grabbed hat-tricks, while Philippa Tuttiett (2) and Courtney Bishop also touched down.

Bristol led 38-3 at the interval, despite losing Kate Newton to the sin-bin midway through the first period. Tuttiett bagged a brace in the opening forty minutes, while Jones went over three times for a stunning quickfire hat-trick.

Elinor Snowsill notched a try either side of half-time as Bristol continued to dominate, followed by Beth Dainton’s well-worked effort. Snowsill completed her hat-trick soon after, before Dainton followed suit with two length-of-the-field efforts.

Substitute Courtney Bishop ended the game with a final try – dotting it down under the posts taking the final score to 78 – 3.

With both Saracens and Richmond winning at Lichfield and Worcester, Bristol Ladies are back up to third in the RFU Women’s Premiership table.

Skipper Amelia Buckland-Hurry said: “We had a great game today, and it was great to see us keep the momentum going from start to finish. It was brilliant to get the win after our last few games. Our positive attitude really shone through today – we knew we’d have to work hard, and if we did we could achieve the result we wanted.

“We’ve upped the intensity of training over the last few weeks, and really regained our focus as a club. It’s been great having the opportunity to be captain, but I am also looking forward to having our internationals back over the next few weeks!”
