Callum Sheedy’s last-gasp penalty goal ensured Bristol snatched a 24-22 victory over Moseley on Friday.

The replacement fly half struck the three pointer to complete a fightback that saw the hosts trail by fifteen points midway through the second half.

Bristol added two penalty tries and a pushover score from Ross McMillan to secure the Ashton Gate win.

After losing Mitch Eadie to injury inside the opening ten minutes, Bristol fell behind when Greg Charlton barrelled over for a converted score.

The home side levelled through a penalty try midway through the first period, before Jack Lam went close from a rolling maul close to the whitewash.

Tom Fidler was yellow carded for Moseley on the stroke of half-time, but Bristol couldn’t seize the advantage, despite being camped on the visitor’s line for the closing stages of the first period.

Moseley went back ahead soon after the restart when George Watkins – on loan for Kevin Maggs’ side – raced in from halfway after snaffling up an intercept pass.

And the visitors silenced the home faithful with a quickfire second as Charlie Foley capitalised on his kick ahead to slide over for a converted try.

The Moseley fly half added a long-range penalty goal to extend the advantage to 7-22 before the hour mark.

Harry Hone became the second visiting player to get his marching order when he was sin-binned and Bristol added another penalty try shortly after to reduce the deficit to 14-22.

Ross McMillan crashed over with five minutes to play as Bristol launched a late fightback.

Then, in the dying seconds, Callum Sheedy stepped up to land a last gasp penalty goal to break Moseley hearts.
