Bristol Rugby recorded a bonus point 29-24 victory over Cornish Pirates on Sunday.
The hosts scored four tries as Tom Varndell, Jack Lam, Jack Wallace and David Lemi all crossed at Ashton Gate.
It took Bristol eight minutes to break the deadlock as Tom Varndell finished off a slick backline move to go in under the posts for a converted try.
After Laurence May missed a penalty attempt for the visitors, Jack Lam continued his prolific try-scoring streak with a close-range effort, converted by Henson to move Bristol 14-0 ahead.
Brett Beukeboom’s powerful effort put Cornish Pirates back in contention midway through the first half, but Jack Wallace went over a third on the stroke of the interval to give the home side breathing space at 21-5.
David Lemi capped a fine performance with Bristol’s bonus point try, sliding over in the corner after the ball was moved quickly wide.
Pirates hit back through Kyle Moyle’s superb individual score, before Gavin Henson kept the scoreboard ticking over with an angled penalty goal.
But the visitors had the final say with a flurry of late tries as Craig Holland and Tom Duncan went over to hand Cornish Pirates two losing bonus points.
