Will Carpenter reports from Kingsholm
Report: Gloucester 27-10 Bristol Bears
Friday, December 3rd 2021
Gloucester ran in three second-half tries to take the derby spoils under the Friday night lights at Kingsholm.
Henry Purdy's well-worked score on 45 minutes - collecting Callum Sheedy's cross-kick after Charles Piutau's break - had edged the Bears in front after Chris Singleton's try from a driving lineout had given the hosts a half-time lead.
But the Cherry and Whites rallied on the hour mark, as Mark Atkinson's kick ahead was collected by the onrushing Chris Harris - and when referee Christophe Ridley awarded a penalty try shortly after and sent Dan Thomas to the sin-bin, the hosts were firmly in control.
Pat Lam's Bears, boosted by the return of Semi Radradra, looked to forge a route back into the contest, but Charlie Chapman's 80th-minute try sealed the Gloucester bonus-point to complete a fifth win of the season for George Skivington's side.
