Report: Gloucester-Hartpury 53-7 Bristol Bears Women

It was an afternoon to forget for Bristol Bears Women at Hartpury College, as Kim Oliver’s side slumped to a disappointing 53-7 defeat to Gloucester-Hartpury on Saturday.

It was a bright start from Bristol Bears Women, who put pressure on Gloucester-Hartpury in attack but it was the hosts who opened the scoring through Millie Wood, before centre partner Tatyna Heard crashed over the whitewash shortly after.

Gloucester-Hartpury wrapped up the bonus-point before the half was up with a short range try from Sasha Acheson and a good finish from winger, Kelly Smith.

After the break, Smith took her tally to three for the afternoon scoring from a metre out before finishing from distance to put the hosts well out of sight of a Bears comeback.

Merryn Doidge crossed for the Bears' only try of the afternoon (via JMPUK).

Ellie Underwood also crossed for Gloucester-Hartpury after the hosts managed to turn over the Bears, whilst Acheson and Heard took secured their braces for the afternoon with both scoring from close range.

Merryn Doidge continued her scoring form for the Bears finishing in the late stages, but it was too little, too late as Gloucester-Hartpury secured the West Country derby bragging rights.
