A late try from Jean-Luc du Preez saw Bristol Bears slip to a narrow defeat at the hands of Sale Sharks on Saturday.
Piers O'Conor scored two first-half tries to help the Bears into 17-15 half-time lead, with Rob du Preez and Tom Roebuck crossing for the home side at the AJ Bell.
AJ MacGinty and Rob du Preez traded penalties early in the second period before Jean-Luc du Preez forced his way over from close range with 12 minutes left.
Bristol piled on the pressure as the clock ticked away, but Sale held firm to take the spoils at the AJ Bell Stadium.
