Report: Wasps 8-23 Bristol Bears

Callum Sheedy scored 18 points as Bristol Bears battled to a first away league win at Wasps in nearly 22 years.

The fly-half kicked two penalties, two conversions and a drop goal to add to his first-half try, with Magnus Bradbury scoring for the second successive week to seal a hard-fought win at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Charlie Atkinson kicked a penalty for Wasps before Tom Willis had a try disallowed for a forward pass.

But Bradbury's try and Sheedy's opportunist drop goal made it two wins from two for the Bears.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Wasps went in front inside six minutes when Tom Cruse collected Charlie Atkinson's floated pass to touch down.

Pat Lam's men hit back with a Callum Sheedy penalty and then went ahead when the fly-half dived over after Rich Lane had come close on the left-hand side.

Bears led 5-10 at the interval but Atkinson's second penalty reduced the deficit early in the second period, before Sheedy's 52nd minute kick made it 8-13 heading into the final quarter.

But Sam Lewis' offload to the onrushing Charles Piutau put the Bears on the front foot, leaving Bradbury to hold off the challenge of Barbeary and score under the sticks.

Sheedy's drop-goal three minutes from time put the game out of Wasps' reach, as the Bears recorded back-to-back wins in the Gallagher Premiership.
