Report: Wimbledon vs Bristol Rugby Ladies 2nd XV

Success for Bristol Ladies 2nd XV as they clinch a convincing 67-10 win away from home in their opening pre-season game of the season.

Last Sunday saw the recently re-formed Bristol Ladies 2nd XV take to the field for the first time since October 2015.

The team made the journey to Wimbledon, looking to right the wrongs of last season and put a strong pre-season into practice.

The team featured a mixture of new faces and players retained from last season, and saw our new 2nd XV coach, James Bird, take the reins for the first time.

Former Head of Geography at King’s College, Taunton, James adds over 10 years of coaching experience to the Bristol Ladies team and brings experience working with Bristol Rugby, supporting Mark Bennett’s strength and conditioning team.

The game saw Bristol dominate with a 67 – 10 victory, scoring 12 tries through seven different players. New Captain for the season Trish Brown played extremely well at 12 earning Back of the game, with Sadie Giles picking up the Forward of the game award. Other noticeable performances saw Emma Lacey score her first try in a Bristol shirt, and some brilliant chip and chase action from Becki Belcher.

The performance means a lot to the squad after a tough 12 months.
