A youthful Bears side fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of Worcester Warriors in round two of the Premiership Rugby Cup on Saturday.
Theo Strang touched down early in proceedings at Sixways, but his well-worked try – created by a powerful surge from Mitch Eadie – was quickly cancelled out by five first-half scores from the hosts
Gareth Simpson’s double together with Harri Doel, Tom Howe and Marc Thomas capped a dominant first 40 from Worcester, while Charlie Powell’s red card for a dangerous tackle gave the Bears a mountain to climb after the break.
Howe grabbed a second after the interval and Jack Johnson also went over before Jono Benz-Salomon bagged his first Bears try from close range.
Tom Dodd touched down for Warriors’ eighth from a driving lineout and Fin Smith scooped up a loose pass to increase the advantage, while Searle’s late try capped victory for the home side.
