Report: Worcester Warriors Women 7-24 Bristol Bears Women

Bears Women were victorious over the Warriors at Sixways running out 24-7 winners on Saturday afternoon in pre-season.

What Happened?

It was a frenetic start to the fixture with both sides brimming with energy and wanting to play rugby in difficult conditions.

Warriors were twice held up over the chalk in the first half as well as having Lydia Thompson go agonisingly close after being denied by an incredible defensive effort from Alisha Butchers and Jenny Hesketh.

However, the hosts would have first blood as Sioned Harries drove her way over the line from the base of a five-metre scrum.

Bears Women would not be deterred, and Grace Crompton pulled the visitors level in style as she scythed through the Warriors defensive line to race over from halfway.

In a blink of an eye the Bears were then ahead. Quick thinking from Keira Bevan saw her take a tap penalty and snipe over the line from five metres out. Snowsill duly converted both scores and the Bears were 7-14 ahead going into the sheds.

Dave Ward's side began the second half in the same vain as the first. Two minutes in they capitalised on a penalty and drove their way over the line with debutant Hannah West dotting down.

It wasn’t until the end of the second half when the Bears bagged their fourth. Patient carrying from the forwards allowed the Bears to get in striking distance, where Lucie Skuse found Kyara Martin who crossed in the corner to round off the scoring.
