Pat Lam insisted there was room for improvement, despite seeing his side record a bonus-point victory over London Irish at Ashton Gate on Sunday.
Bristol ran in five tries courtesy of Mat Protheroe (2), Harry Thacker, Nathan Hughes and Andy Uren, but the Director of Rugby admitted to some frustration at the final whistle.
“Conceding the points we did was disappointing,” said Lam. “We wanted to start well, and we obviously didn’t do that – we had nine sources of possession and we turned over eight of them, which was annoying.
“But then, minutes 20-40 there were no turnovers and suddenly we’re 18 points up and it’s not rocket science.
“So, we spoke about that at half time and came out and kicked off well, but again we got loose with discipline and that was the frustrating thing.
“We were really clear in the changing room just then – we’ll take the win of course, but in the wider scheme of things, there’s some bits we need to tidy up, otherwise it’s going to make it difficult. We shouldn’t be giving away that amount of points.”
