Ryan Edwards Signs Contract Extension

Ryan Edwards is the latest player to commit his future to Bristol Rugby ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

The Academy graduate – one of the Club’s standout performers in the Aviva Premiership – has made twelve appearances in the blue and white hoops this season.

Edwards made his first team debut in 2011, whilst still a student at University West of England (UWE), before signing professional terms with the Academy in 2013.

"At 26 years old, Ryan is reaching the prime of his career and we’re delighted that another Academy-produced player is buying into what we are trying to achieve here.”

Head Coach, Mark Tainton

“Ryan has worked really hard to get back from a hernia injury and he played superbly on his return to play against Exeter on Saturday,” Head Coach Mark Tainton told bristolrugby.co.uk.

“He’s a tenacious winger who has stepped up to the demands of the Premiership and shown, consistently, that he can perform well at this level. At 26 years old, Ryan is reaching the prime of his career and we’re delighted that another Academy-produced player is buying into what we are trying to achieve here.”

SPEED: Ryan Edwards breaks clear of the Gloucester defence at Kingsholm (JMP UK).

Edwards added: “While it was frustrating to miss some of the season through injury, it’s been a positive season for me personally. I’m really enjoying my rugby and excited about the coaches coming onboard and the style of rugby they want to play.

“As one of the longest serving players in the squad, I know how much Bristol Rugby means to the supporters. Every player is determined to help the Club achieve its goals and we’re positive about what lies ahead and the vision that Pat [Lam] has.”
