Chris Vui’s Samoa secured their place at the 2019 Rugby World Cup after beating Germany 42-28 in Heidelberg on Sunday morning.
Samoa won the first leg 66-15 in Apia two weeks ago but were made to work hard by the hosts this time around, trailing by one point at half-time and two until the 69th minute, when full-back Ahsee Tuala crossed and converted to level the scores at 28-28.
Ed Fidow crossed for his second soon after, before Tuala added his second in the 80th minute to complete a personal haul of 22 points and seal victory for Samoa, who also included Bristol Bears players Jack Lam, Tusi Pisi and Jordan Lay in their match day squad.
Samoa will join Ireland, Scotland, Japan, and Russia at the World Cup in Japan in September-October next year.
