Samoa sign off World Cup with defeat to Ireland

Samoa exited the Rugby World Cup with a heavy defeat to 14-man Ireland in Fukuoka.

Chris Vui, Alapati Leiua and Jordan Lay all featured for Samoa, who were boosted by Bundee Aki’s 29th-minute red card.

But seven tries saw the Irish rally to book their place in the quarter finals, as Johnny Sexton’s double and further scores from Rory Best, Tadhg Furlong, Jordan Larmour, CJ Stander and Andrew Conway sealed a comfortable win for Joe Schmidt’s side.
