Callum Sheedy came off the bench to help inspire a Wales fightback, as Wayne Pivac's side battled to a 38-23 victory over Fiji in Cardiff on Sunday.
The fly half kicked two conversions after coming on in the 63rd minute, with Wales trailing 19-23 to the 14-man Fijians, after Eroni Sau's first-half red card.
The visitors played for 36 minutes with 13 men and 20 more with 14 after they lost wing Eroni Sau to a red card and then two forwards to yellow cards. Despite their indiscipline the Fijians actually led for an hour of the match before finally falling to six tries from the home side.
With the game on a knife-edge moving into the final 10 minutes, Wales finally released Rees-Zammit on the left wing and he kicked ahead before showing off his magnificent turn of speed to score a try that made up for the disappointment of having an earlier effort chalked off.
It was a first win in the autumn international series for Wales and teenage forward Christ Tshiunza came of the bench nine minutes from time to win his first cap. The four match series comes to an end on Saturday when Australia visit the Welsh capital.
