South Stand Concourse Unveiled

Football fans visiting Ashton Gate today will see for the first time the South Stand concourse unveiled with its Bristol City hero images, charting a timeline of the club’s history from England international Billy Wedlock to 2015 double-winning captain Wade Elliott.

The huge banners cover the length of the concourse and celebrate City players’ contributions to the club over the last 121 years.

Jon Lansdown, vice-chairman of Bristol City, said: “These images celebrate our heritage and the contributions of key players throughout the years. I hope that they bring back as many cherished memories for fans as they do for me. To think that the old Wedlock Stand stood here just 18 months ago and to see the transformation that has taken place is amazing.”

As the £45m rebuild continues the West Stand is rapidly taking shape ready to be opened in the summer of 2016.

Ashton Gate is the home of both Bristol City and Bristol Rugby clubs and as such the West Stand will include tributes to Bristol Rugby and their heritage in the city.
