Stadium Supporters Update

Supporters gathered at Ashton Gate on Thursday evening as the latest plans of the stadium rebuild were revealed by Bristol Sport.

A number of new computer generated images, illustrating the stadium’s interior were unveiled to more than 200 fans from both Bristol City FC and Bristol Rugby.

Bristol Sport chairman Martin Griffiths said: “Whilst these images demonstrate the fantastic new stadium that we will have for the start of the 2016/17 season, it is a complicated process to get to that point.

“We are about to embark on the most difficult and complex phase of the rebuild. As the South Stand structure goes up the Dolman Stand will start to be redeveloped.

CEO Andrew Billingham added: “We will be embarking on a full and complete consultation with season card holders from both clubs. Our Supporter Services are here for you. Different season card holders will be affected from match to match over the coming months and they will help you through it. We appreciate supporters’ patience throughout this time.”

The following points summarise the key stages of the rebuild:

  • January 2015 the lower tier of the Dolman Stand will be removed and the roof extension will follow that
  • All season card holders in the lower Dolman will be contacted directly regarding the alternative options available to them
  • In order for the roof to be extended over the Dolman Stand supporting pillars will be erected – this will mean that some seats in the Upper Dolman will have a restricted view and this will be assessed on a match-by-match basis to help alleviate the problem.
  • The south-east corner of the South Stand will start going up in the next few weeks and is still on-schedule for its opening for the 2015/16 season.
  • A stand-by-stand consultation with begin in the New Year for all season card holders
